Mr. Farber's Rubric

1. Websites for issues - Pros & Cons

Controversial Issues

ProCon.org - Pros and Cons of Controversial Issues

Social Issues - Homework Center - Multnomah County Library

ipl2: Information You Can Trust

St. Ambrose University Library-Best Information on the Net-Hot Paper Topics

2. A collection of databases from New York State Library

NOVEL - Obtain password from librarians.

3. Searching NOVEL

 a) Sample search using Novel-  I've decided to research English as the official language of the United States - I would do a keyword search, searching terms: english and official language.  By using "and," you are connecting the two terms, so that the computer limits the search.  "And" is called a Boolean operator, a way of searching.

b) Go to the research page of the library website (see link below) to learn how to cite your sources. On the research page you will find information about paraphrasing, in text citation, what a works cited page looks like, plagiarism and different styles of citation.  There is also a link to a website, Landmark Citation, that will do the citation for you.
